Engine Fan

Re: Engine Fan
It's probably not the fan, but one of the belts. check to see if any of them seem to have loosened any. The alternator belt (since it's a serpentine type) tends to be the most likely one (maybe also because it's the most difficult to get to...).

Re: Engine Fan
Maybe the injector cooling fan. I removed mine. A lot of people do. It's supposed to prevent vapor lock or make the car easier to start when warm but it doesn't seem to matter much.

Re: Engine Fan
Ya, Zen is right. The injector cooling fan is on 84/5 turbo's and 86na's. Not sure what 87+ variations they are on. You may have gotten water in it or something, and the bearings may be squealing now. They're easy to get off on the 84/5's as they're mounted by the headlight, but 86na's they are down behind the power steering pump - a pain to get to. Maybe try opening it up and drying and/or regreasing the bearings if you can. Never opened one up before, so not sure how doable this is.
hope this helps.
