Button between the seats

so there is strange button between the front 2 seats on my 85 n/a. it does not look anything like the adjustable suspension switch on the turbos. its more like like a on/off switch on a multiple outlet extension cord. one half of the switch is black, other half is red. whats this button? thank in advance.

How about a pic so we know what you are talking about? Have you looked in the FSM?

It sounds like it’s something aftermarket for an alarm or a stereo. To be sure, take a photo and post it here. The reason is that there are four switches on the N.A. model’s center console area as OEM equipment:

Door mirror defogger switch
Door mirror remote control switch
Headlight cleaner switch
Normal/power pattern switch if your car has an auto. transm.

The rear defrost should be on the trio of buttons next to the instrument cluster.

The defrost button down in the console will be for the heated mirrors (if you have them).

Obviously an aftermarket switch.

There were only three switch options on the console besides the power mirrors and the AE sound system.

1. Turbo suspension adjustment, 2. mirror defrost and 3. the front headlight washer switch.

One more time for the people who can't seem to read...

The rear window defroster is on the three switches to the right of the instrument cluster. It is the very top button.

IF there is a defrost button in the center console, it is for the mirror defrost.

Idiots.
