86Z Wont Start
i got this car from my brothers car lot, he said he drove it. got it home, wouldn't start, checked the fuel lines nothin came out when we turned over the engine. figured, its the fuel pump. spent 90$ on a pump, spent 5+ hours installing it and still no gas when the engine turns over. replaced a fusible link that was burnt, can't find the relay for the fuel pump, any ideas to whay might be wrong. oh and i'm only 16 so i can't pay someone hundreds of dollars to fix it. thanks for all the help

Re: 86Z Wont Start
Did you check the fuses under the steering wheel. Make sure the fuel injection fuse is OK. Also check the starter, make sure its connected. Mine is kind of tricky once in a while, I have to unplug the solenoid and plug it back in and it starts fine. Starter is like $130 plus core charge here in San Antonio, hopefully just plugging it back in is all you need.

Check and make sure ther pump is working properly. I assume it is a used one and if it is not putting out enough pressure no gas will get to the injectors. Souds like something in your fuel lines is clogged. Pull off an injector and have them checked out.

Re: 86Z Wont Start
i replaced the fusable links and the relays on my car(from my other Z w/ a messed up engine), the pump works, when you turn the key on the pump pressrizes the system, it still wont start though, i've used starter fluid to start it and it will idle for a minute, i heard the pump, but when you accelerate the engine it stall s off after about 1500 RPM(you have to accelerate the engine SLOWLY). i'm thinking the computer might be gone b/c the digitial dash doesn't work. does this make sense or is it probally just a sensor?
Re: 86Z Wont Start
try unplugging your air flow meter. if it idles fine and starts fine then it could be the culprit. the car will only rev to about 2000 (on my 86na only 1800 according to factory tach) with it disconnected though. Could also be the crank angle sensor. if the distributor has ever gotten wet or damp it could cause the circuitboard in it to start corroding. it's in the distributor.

check your ECU, mine has just recently gone out and having the same problem as yours. Im currently looking for an replacement which is bit complicated cause its a turbo. As for your Digital Dash going out, most likely of your fuses. It appears that its an eletrical problem that has cause the car not to start and digital dash to go out.

I'm agreeing with the last two posts
For the dash, check your rear windshield wiper, if it works then it is probably your power supply, if it doesn't then your fuse is fried. For the no start, listen to Spot86t he/she is on the right track I'd bet
