86 Resonator question- quick to answer

I just need to know where the resonator is on this year of the car. I know many cars have them in the pipe, but I've heard it has to do with the fan or something? A picture or diagram or just a description would be appreciated. Thanks.

I guess that depends on what you think the resonator is and does. But I can tell you there is nothing that has anything to do with a fan that could be mistakenly called a resonator.

Does it hurt to remove the resonator?

I've seen people who've said they've removed the res from their Z31s, and they sound a lot better. Do I need to do anything extra, or just take the res off?

It really doesn't do anything at all. It may make the intake slightly louder, but you really won't notice much over the sound of the exhaust or the sounds of the engine clicking away.
