'84 Refresh to Return to Service!
Hello everyone, this is my first post on this page and likely one of many. I am in possession of my brother's 1984 300ZX and I'm looking to do some refreshing while he's away so that he can use it as a daily driver when he decides to sell his 370z that he can't afford the payments on It runs fine, but it hasn't been on the road for at least a couple of years, maybe longer. As such, I'm looking at doing a timing belt change (unknown mileage on belt), cam seals, crank seal, radiator hoses, water pump, coolant flush, and the regular oil and filter changes. I want to be certain that this car can be trusted (within reason) as a daily driver. Are there any tricks or tips to the jobs that I should be aware of, or anything else I should check? any special procedures? I come from a background of Fiats, where there is a special procedure for pretty much everything :P The car appears to be pretty much bone stock mechanically, apart from a horrendous fart cannon exhaust and a cheap looking cone filter replacement. I also plan to check all of the vacuum lines and look over the injectors, though I must admit that I'm more accustomed to carburetors than fuel injection. Any input is much appreciated.

Welcome to ZDriver!
Step 1: Download the FSM.
Z31 Factory Service Manuals
Step 2: Read.
We're here to help, but there's no better way to understand what you need to do other than reading the instructions.

Great to see a fellow Z driver from Alabama, welcome! Like NP said, the FSM is the gateway drug to getting your ride back on the road. With these cars being SOHC the 60k maintenence is really quite straightforward, I don't think you should have a problem.
Good luck to you, keep us posted.
