Coilovers?

What do you guys usually do for coilovers? Something like Ground Control or A1?

I'm going to want to lower my car atleast 3 inches from stock position, and possibly an inch or two more for "fun day". Will I need to section the struts for this?

I've also heard of people raising the mounting point up. On the miata, you can swap the upper shock mount out from a different year car, and it causes it to be mounted a few inches high to gain suspension travel space. Any tricks like that that can be used on Z cars?

I'm actually putting z31 front strut assembly on my s130, and I read that the z31's is about 2" longer. So I'm going to need to get some of that back before I even start "lowering" any.

I'll be putting on camber plates at the same time.
