Go to www.crutchfield.com
You can buy a head unit from them and you should be able to get the wiring and installation kit for free. That's what I did. True, the new unit is not a direct drop in but w/ the installation kit it will be.

just a fair warning, crutchfields kit does not adapt properly when you have the power antenna. The hole that they have cutout for the switch is off slightly, you may have to modify it.

Any standard size head unit will fit with a dash kit. Sony is ****, though. Don't buy it.

There's virtually no difference between the regular Pioneer line and the Premier line. But none of the stereos that retail for less than $400 on any of the above listed brands are worth a damn. If you want a decent head unit, you step up to their higher end stuff.

Couldn't tell you what the levels are on the Sonys and Kenwoods, but for the Pioneers, its once you step up the the 700/7000 series units that they are much better built and there is a noticable price jump over the next level down. But you get what you pay for.

IMO: Sony, Kenwood, and Pioneer all make head units of the same quality at the same price levels. I find these brands to be the best stereos for the dollar. I just don't like the looks of the Sony and Kenwoods. JVC has really stepped up their quality in the last few years. I also have a very big distrust of Alpine after I've seen a couple friends go through pickup lasers every couple years. It took about 8 years and 3 cars for my first Pioneer to start mistracking. And that's only on CDs there have a few scratches in them.

Pioneers I've owned:
DEH-P705 - skips on scratched CDs.
DEH-P725 - stolen.
DEH-P735 - 84NA.
DEH-P8400MP - 50th AE
DEH-P8600MP - Bronco
DEH-P8600MP - Convertible
6Disc MP3 - Scion xB

Only had one JVC and that was because I wanted an MP3 player. Only two companies made one at the time, and I chose JVC over Aiwa. Unit was very good to me for the two years I had it.
