Oh I've seen plenty of women Z drivers. Mostly 350Z's though. What I'd be curious to know is how many of them are actual enthusiasts like us (us not being a general term for men. Us being a general term for the 3 of us in this thread). Not just drivers. There are tons of men and women who drive their Z's every day to work or school or where ever, but they never give their Z a second thought as to whether its special. It's just transportation. Why don't you go ahead and start a pole in the polls section Dust. I dont think anyone would take offense. And most of the people on this site seem to be enthusiasts, not just commuters, so the results would actually be worthwhile.

Well I am a woman and I truely love my Z. Its more than just a way to work...it has always been my deam car. I would be interested in the poll myself.

Ah finally a thread I can go off on. Lets see, I see Z33s ALL the time in Miami and guess whos driving them 90% of the time? Wives or daddy's girls. Yeah theres this red one that always drives by my house and its driven by some 16yr old girl who can barely see over the wheel and has sunglasses that cover half her damn face. See, I see that and I wonder "does she know her car is fast?", "has she ever pushed it fast for the enjoyment of driving?" But no its just for school and for looking cool at school, what a waste of a 350Z. Oh and Ive been driving daily now for 3 months and not once, NOT EVER! has anyone in a 350Z ackowledged me as a fellow Z. DAmn those idiots that have that car and are not ethusaists! well sorry for that but I love the 350Z but hate it's drivers... Oh and ppl in 300zxs dont seem to know my car is a Z like theres either...Originally Posted by jfairladyz

hey, dont knock 300zx drivers. i agree about the 350z drivers though, lots of girls, and nobody ever so much as nods at me to acknowledge the Z thing. yesterday though, a guy driving a '94 came in my store and asked someone if anybody knew who drove my car. he said he sees it there a lot, and figured whoever drove it must work there. chatted me up for a few, and i had to get back to work. thats what i love about the Z, wish it happened more often.Originally Posted by iluvJDM

Z32 people had the same 'arrogance' associated with them back in the 90's as the Z33 people have now.
These are obviously generalizations as there are large swaths of the 'community' that don't fit in these little containers.
However, when the next version of the Z car comes out, all the Z33 people will hate the Z34 people for not recognizin' they're representin'!
Having owned every generation of Z car but the Z33 (so far, I'm still lookin' for the right 2003 Base model) I can confirm there are clique's in every generation and it will be that way until the end of time.
I mean, come on, does anyone like the Z31? No, really? Just kidding RebelGirl!
I love chicks, especially those that love Z cars of any generation!

Ah I like the Z31. It's limited to the later model 2 seater turbo models. But it's still a Z31.
Big Poppa
yeah those late model zed drivers never wave or nothing, you get an old school zed driver and theyll wave til there blue in the face, follow you, then talk your ear off, i also find the skyline community to be polite and respectful to the zed crowd, they fear me, until someone gets a bigger turbo, then im just easy pickens

I agree that most women I see driving Z's are cruising in the 350. Ive never seen a girl in anything other than that.
Off topic: I was cruising last summer and I saw this really nice looking grey s2000 (aftermarket wheels, exhaust from what I could tell from behind). We ended next to eachother at the light, and it was a HOT redhead. She gave a look at the Z and at me and then winked. I smiles and gave her a thumbs up (think Ace Ventura, when hes getting autographs from the dolphins players). Then we both cruised next to eachother before I turned after acouple lights.
It was like I was in a dream.heheheh.

I know what you guys mean. We were up at Steak n' Shake standing around my Z. The Blue and Silver really sticks out in the light, and a 350Z pulls in, the driver of it never evn so much glanced at my Z. It kinda sucks to have no one recognize the older Z. I wish there were more cool Z drivers here. The Z31, I love and hate the car. The design of it to me really is an odd design, it got alot better with the 86+ models of it, but regardless the design is so different and unique that I love the car. Plus it was my first Z

Yeah I dont tend to wave at Zer's either. If I come across one at a gas station or in a parking lot and the owner is around then I'll see if they're looking to talk Z's. But for the most part I usually just wait for people to come up to me. Too many incidents where I walk up to someone with an older Z to talk to them about it and they just kind of brush you off with the "I just drive it" line.

Hahaaa one time I was really fed up with the "350Z drivers=not car people" thing that one time at a gas station I was across a silver 350Z, the guy just looked like your average 30yr old business dude. So when I saw him I just started saying out loud "Hey I have a Z too", just to mess with him. I was with my friend and I was just saying that the whole time me and the 350Z guy were pumping gas. He did glance at me once or twice but just because he thought I was crazy for saying I have a Z when my cars not a 350Z(to him it was just soem old car). He then left and Im like eh its probably auto too, but my friend checked and it was suprisingly manual! Z33 people really need to catch up on their Datsun Z knowledge. lol Nissan should hand out a manual with every 350Z purchase! BTW J' I also fear that same "I just drive it" line!

I was watching Jeopardy today and they had a question about Datsun. It was a real simple question like This auto manufacturer originally produced cars under the name Datsun.
Well as said in a few years all the actual Z enthusiasts who still own their Z33s will be the ones who will recognize our cars, and then it'll be all over again as we just get pushed further and further into the past. I'm waiting for the day that the style of our cars comes back around and then we'll be leading the way with our original Z cars and then people will be dieing to have them.

In order of "classic" potential status.
The Collectible Z Car Scale:
1. S30 - Classic styling and revolutionized the sports car market.
2. Z32 - Revolutionary styling and unprecedented performance in an affordable package with state of the art engine management.
3. S130 - The first try at the grand tourer with hints of the original styling, greatly improved aerodynamics, unfortunately hampered by fledgling federal emissions and very simple engine management.
4. Z31 - New package, improved performance - a real GT
5. Z33 - The "current" model
6. Z34 - The future... (Not the Chevy Cavalier!)
Just think, we're ahead of the Z31 crowd on the collectible scale!

I dont think it's so much that the current Z33 owners will one day accept their cars heritage. I think its more so that the enthusiasts of the earlier generations will eventually be buying up Z33's as the prices come down and the snobs who have no idea why there is a "Z" in the alpha-numeric name of their new 'sports' car is driving the next generation of Z car
I mean seriously, how many of those 350Z drivers do you think would actually be able to identify the older siblings of their new baby? Look how many Z33 members we have here. Now compare that number to the number of 350Z Nissan has sold since it's introduction. Not too impressive. now consider the limited number of the older Z's still on the road and look at how many members we have from those era's. Those snobs will always be snobs. But one day they'll pass their used Z on down to an enthusiast who will appreicate it's heritage.
And I'm not talking about all 350Z owners obviously. Of course there are enthusiasts.

Hey, getting back to the snob / waving issue, while driving home last night, I realized that I don't really notice drivers inside their cars while I'm driving.
With tinted glass and reflections, I doubt that I would even be aware that they're waving at me even if I happen to glance their direction...!
Also, do you think that some people who happen to drive Z's might see a Z enthusiast the same way we look at a Star Wars or Star Trek fan?
I mean, if you just came out of a theater after seeing the movies, would you feel like talking about it in greater detail with the trekkie fans next to you or would you run? ...hehe
No offense to any trekkies here... uh, live long and prosper...?
