Question Wierd Engine Problem

My 280zx idles perfectly at about 600rpm, but when you push the accelerator, at 2000rpms every time, the car sputters and makes an awful groaning sound if you try to kepp revving it. Any Ideas. It worked fine up until this afternoon. The two things i did to it today were LOW pressure hose off the engine, and change two vacuum hoses that were cracked . Maybe a sensor that got wet???? I dont know. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Ya gotta be careful when washing the 280zx engine bay... Getting water in the sensors = BAD.

Do the following:

Take off distrib cap & blow it dry w/ some compressed air.

Take off TPS sensor connector & blow dry.

Take off AFM connector & blow dry.

Wala...

It's also a good idea to put some di-electric grease on those connectors when re-installing.

Ditto, You didn't do any harm but, the best thing to do after drying those items would be to let the car idle in your driveway for a good bit of time to aid in drying up any left over water. This very same thing happened to me when I cleaned my engine. I had to shift before 2,000rpm on the way to and from work but, the next day it was fine.
