Break open your Haynes manual and pop off that kick panel... There's quite a few connections right there... take a gander.

check the wire fuses next to the battery. i was replacing my alternator and i did not disconnect my battery and i burnt the wire fuse and my guages did not work replaced it(wire fuse) they worked fine.well this happen a several years ago in 1984
