Where can I find a deal on a/c compressor

I had a friend of mine loan me a 30lb cylinder of R-12 so I was going to charge the a/c on my car. Got it all hooked up only to discover the compressor is locked up. Anybody know where I can find a deal on a "GOOD" compressor? Will probably have to change the air drier, etc., so a package deal would be nice....

yeah, I'm just afraid I'll get another compressor that doesn't work, and most junk yards don't like to take stuff back. I saw one on fleebay for about $195.00, but the seller doesn't seem to want to tell me what the warranty is. I've asked twice. Thanks

a junk yard one you can see if it spins. Just don't pay much for it... hopefully $15 or less. Then buy new seals for all the hose ends throughout the system.

are you sure it's locked up? If you mean it wasn't engaging when you switched it over to A/C while trying to fill it up, there is a sensor near the compressor (it's an expansion chamber I think??) that tells the compressor it's safe to turn on - AKA it has R-12 in the system so it's not going to fry the compressor.
If you jump the wires for the sensor it will kick on, allowing the compressor to engage and you to put lovely R-12 into your system.

If you mean it's legitimately frozen up - they've got you pointed in the right direction.

not sure that the compressor is locked up or not, but the clutch is gone. It has blown apart.
