What is this tube?
What is this tube?
Well i was cleaning out all the dead leaves out my engine bay trying to figure out why my damn starter now doesn't want to work when i see this greenish tube dangling ...what is it? lol I couldn't find anywhere that it may have gone? At first i got excited thinking maybe it was one of the vacuum tubes that is the reason why my A/C vents are shut close. anyone have any ideas?

Even still...my car still doesn't isnt starting

hmm so thats it
well= since i already made a thread...do you know where i can find the a/c vent vacuum tubes and why my starter isnt working all of a sudden?
it was replaced a year ago already and turned on just fine last week lol

What is the starter doing when you hit the start setting on your key switch? Click-click-click?
Does it just spin free and not turn the engine?
Or does it do nothing at all???
If it does nothing at all, I would say that the solenoid is not getting power.
If it's the other two, then it's easier to fix.

Take it in. It takes like two minutes to take out one of our starters. Free.
But, when that does not work, my hunch is something like a relay has gone out. If you can have someone try to start the car for you while you listen to the relay, you should hear a faint click. If not, then it's out. Even then, if it does click over, you can test to see if it is sending juice to the starter solenoid with a light type circuit tester, or even a cheap DMM. (Digital Multi Meter)

there is a little yellow wire that connects to the starter that yellow wire is connected to your starter system.. check that little wire to see if it has come loose or isnt getting a good connection. Thats logical thinking... from me... dont listen to the rest of these people there all dum except " nismopick " and lWW... and one of the moderators.. LOL
i'd check that little yellow wire going to the starter. That wire slipped off my starter and i turned the car inside out trying to find why it wouldn't start. Wouldn't do anything at all. Felt like a real dumbass after i paid 200 bucks to have it towed back to base and another 80 to buy a new starter, just to find out that little yellow wire was old and loose and had slipped off. Especially when an old fella had asked me about the wire and i had said it when to the old auxillary cooling fan which i had removed. DOH!
Hmm...
Well Yes of course Check the Little Yellow Wire. You Could also undo both connections to the starter clean the bolt threads with brake clean and then retighten bolts. If that dosent work. Then hit it with a rubber Mallet (the Solenoid could be sticking)... if that dosent free it then yes im serious when I say take a wrench and touch both Large bolts at once to create a SPark, this will discharge the starter solenoid and free it usually. (Might blow a fuse but just replace it.
Also if u use a light tester (put ground clip to a good ground) then touch either large bolt.. one will light it up clarifying if the starter is getting juice from the battery
Last resort. unbolt the entire starter from engine remove solenoid (Brass smaller cylinder shaped thingy with the two bolts and yellow or whatever colored wire to it) inside will be a Small cylinder (magneto type thingy) and a Spring, check for rust or objects blocking its movement, once youremove that small cylinder and spring if you look inside it should be clean and have a small tiny cylinder (circle thingy) if that is in good shape and not mushroomed then go to the Larger Starter portion check teeth on gears check the Lever Arm push it in and out dose it force the gear outwards? you can lube the gear with grease if you want (there is also a brass colored two finger spring type thingy) see if thats bent or broken. after all that is done put it all back together make sure the armature is infront of the brass spring thingy and slide the small cylinder with the arm with hole in it overtop the armature put spring in the solenoid then push them together put in the two small long screws then rebolt starter and hook up wires. it should work after that.
wow Blah Blah Blah.. yeah those starters should work for all eternity if you grease em up every so often, greased and cleaned mine out at 200,000KM
