coil packs for the spark plugs. that intake depending on where you live is legal or not. even though thats how some came without a egr. can you show a close up of your paint attempt. looks like the paint is lifting or something to that extent. i cant really tell because im not able to see it that clearly but someone might be able to see whats going on. dupli-color sucks btw. you would be better off getting general black primer >_<

Pic# 1: Jeff P's car? Looks like his seats...

Pic# 2: Coil packs. You use them w/ MegaSquirt / SDS or similar.

Pic# 3: Did you prep & CLEAN the surface? Wax & grease remover?

Pic# 4: That's Jeff P's car.

Pic# 5: N42 non-egr intake. Prolly not "legal" in Cali, but it seems that people manage to have them.

I disagree..on the dupli-color sucking. I have used it a lot on my Z. And everything has turned out awesome. What did you try to paint with it? And what was the temperature outside when you did it? If it gets 90's or more. It wont stick and will just run. I can't spray paint out here in the spring and summer. I tried it...and it turned out horribly. But anyway...temps below that..and it works great. And makes the part look like it came in that color. (mainly interior pieces..and also pieces in the engine bay and on the body)

They look like seats outta a z31 turbo. And no the non-egr intake won't pass visual. Sucks, but that's the way it is. Although if it wasn't as shiny and attention getting as the pic, you might be able to squeak by as most people nowadays don't know what a proper L-series motor looks like.

Bottom of this page: http://www.angelfire.com/extreme/280zxt/page13.html

I think they are seats from a van.

i may sound like a noob(wonder why?) but is that intake manifold something custom or is it something datsun made?

and lol at first i thought that the engine with the coil packs was a LD28(ohh i want me one of the ld cranks bygollie)

never mind, in all my ignorance i didnt realize that was a turbo manifold

nother ignorant ?, would there be any point in taking a turbo manifold and using it as a N/A manifold? would you gain a little power from the increased air flow or is there increased air flow?

That polished intake manifold IS NOT a turbo manifold. It's an N42 non-egr intake from an early 280z. And no... a turbo manifold on an n/a will not do anything. Ever heard of "Port and Polish" ?

how is it not turbo? i mean the valve cover says turbo and there is a turbo sitting atop the exhaust manny

will that bolt right up to a 81(p92374 or whatever) head?

Have you thought about including TWO questions in ONE post before????

I dunno if anyone has ever told you, but the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, cylinder head, and valve cover are not all one big piece. You can take them apart and interchange them... thus the reason that intake manifold is not a turbo one... because they swapped it. Horray!!!!!

i knew that, im not a noob(haha) but again dose the intake bolt up to the 81zx N/A head?and can i use zx injectors or do i have to go out and get some 79 injectorrs? i like it cause it looks ten times claener than the 81 stock manny

The next thing we need to teach you is how to use the SEARCH feature. All of those things have been discussed before and can be found by clicking your mouse several times.

In a nut shell... ALL L heads have round intake ports & the same bolt pattern.

All 76-83 n/a injectors have the same flow rate and impedance, thus they are interchangeable (no "special" injectors are needed for an intake mani swap).

i didnt use the search feature because i thought i was kind of helping this guy with his question , but i thought there was a difference in the injector holder and injector base shape? so no es interchangebles?

Good luck with that... The N42 is quite rare so you probably won't find one in a junk yard. Expect to pay $100+ on ebay.

If you want that intake be prepared to do some work. That one has had the holes filled and then it was polished. A factory N42 has holes for vacuum connections, etc...

I would love to find a set of those seats. I need to spend some time at the local yards.

I sent Mr. Jeff an email to see if he would give us the skinny on the seats in his 280zx. I guess we will wait and see if he wants to let us know or keep it to himself.

As I said I wrote Mr. Jeff and here is what he had to say about his seats.

"Hi Mike, thanks for the complement on my car. The seats are recaro ERGO-MED seats. The seat was used in Ferrari vehicles factory, there are a number of the cars in Huntington Beach, and that is the only car I have seen them in. The seats are fully electric, dual lumbar supports and heated. I was able to use the stock 280ZX seat bracket to mount them, with a little modifications to the floor mounts.
The other cars that I have seen similar recaro seats are in the BMW cars, 328 series and M series off the top of my head. So if someone is looking for a seat like my car has I say look at the BMW equipment.
I did call recaro regarding the seats after I found the ones in my car, I was trying to get a total cost of the seat before I bought mine. I was quoted 1800.00 each covered in cloth. The leather option was almost 2000.00 more for each seat. So I decided to go take a look at them and bought them on the spot after I got a look with my own eyes the color of the leather. NICE! ( SWEET! ) LOL. I got a deal on them @ 3K for both.
Have a good weekend Mike."
