vg30_s12's conquering a 280zx thread

Finally got the zed running right after about two weeks of tinkering, still more to do but she runs under her own "full" power

Backstory:
Bought my first official Z about two or so weeks ago,an 83ZX from my local Zbuddy, it had sat at least 6years that we know of...
within 5min, we got it fired up but ran like ****, kept tinkering (plugs blah blah blah) couldn't figure it what was up. it ran, idled(kinda) and missed like a ****, but its like it would skip around,135, then 246...

Checked the tank, as expected of a car that has sat for an amount of time, was guuuuuuuuuuhnked up. Drained tank, filed with 5gal and some lucas "cylinder head lube" EFI cleaner... No change...
checked flow at the filter poor boy style, pull it of and watch it go lol. Spurted out alil, but had a hell of a time filing asmall glass...

So, went on ebay, picked up a cheap external fp(iirc it was for like a 91 econoline or something) cost? $32 to my door, its a no name brand, was recommended by a grms member, so let's see how long she lasts... I'll get the contact info of anyone is interested

Anyway, modded it alil to fit(put in a cheap clear filter before the pump, just in case ) and fired it
she rings muuuuch better, little response hesitation, but nothing major... but I noticed the injector clips(and injector sides) are not makking good contact, so that will be the next task along with getting rid of unnessary emmissions bs(have nc inspector )

Pics for giggles

Rust is there but not bad and in all the wrong places.. Plans for now are to clean it up more, strip the interior (its mostly shot anyways) strip unnessaries(ac/cruse borked) sort the suspension and get ms1 in there to help with mpgs... may boost, may not...

Will update as I go along... Please consider this my build thread
Suggestions are welcome

Ok, not much progress made, but lots of thinking and planning(not good planning but still loll)
So far, I tradded out my 6spokes for my old set of ssr mesh wheel(sex), pics tomarrow. The extra fuel filter that I put in is clogged really good, so the tank is going to be dropped and cleaned best I can, hopefully not needing a replacement fenders will be removed to assess and start rust repair(any place I can get dog legs and rockers on the cheap?)

In a fit of ripping stuff off of the intake, ive decided that I've lost my damned mind, and im going to bite the bullet and start working on getting MegaSquirt in and running... And since the zxt dizzys seem to be expensive or hard to come by, ive decided that im using MSnS_Extra and use Ford EDIS to control spark... Why you ask? It opens a world of possiabilities for my zed, oh and getting rid of emmissions bs and simplifying the engine bay... Namely the flapper box and charcoal canister, and the dizzy...

There's atoooooon of stuff I'm stumped about, but I've got to learn sometime... I'm not good at electronics and wiring but I wired the ka24de into my s12... in the words of clarkson, "how hard could it be?"

Anyway, took the hood off(pita if alone) and prepping to get moving... Try to update soon

current status... wheels are 15x6.5/7 +13et.Passenger side wheels are way sunk in, but ive got a 1.5in spacer on the front drivers for giggles, not sure if its too much... was thinking a 1in spacer and more lower would do it. thoughts?

Yeah im still way overwhelmed by the MS, but I guess I have one thing going for me, my ecu came off of a 76'280z, so maybe itll have useable fuel maps to get it started...

Any one with experience with MS, welcome to post here : D

Spacers are only too big if they rub

Let me know if you need help with the MS

diyautotune already has a laser cut trigger wheel. The stock 280ZX works for a single coil/distributor ignition system and MS

just a few min of sanding, no real polishing done yet
220, 400 wet, then 1000 wet, then super fine steel wool wet

gonna finish all the shelby wheels, then get the s12 legal and driving around
