VG alternator on L28

alright i want to be a cheap *** so i was wondering will my alternator work on the L28 from a Vg motor and vice-versa?

i want to keep my alternator out of my maxima because its got a lifetime warranty and mines kinda weak, not to bad yet.

i wanted to swap the starter too but thats a whole different story when i took a good look at how that **** mounted

You CAN make it work, but it takes a lot of time, fabbing, and adjusting. Several people have done it, but the biggest prob is shredding the belt because the VG alternator bracket to pulley distance is different.

If you want an alternator upgrade, go with a GM one wire. Check out my cardomain page & search on here. We've had alternator discussions on that.

its not much work, i did it and it was very simple. the alt comes with a serp pully while the stock has a V pulley. the vg alt pulley sits closer to the alt. so what i did was cut the pulley down till its basically a spacer for the V pulley. now it sits perfect. depending on what year you have your gonna have to do some rewiring. Now its nice to have a 108 alt.

Care to explain more? I did a lot of alternator swap research a while back... I read 3 or 4 websites of guys saying the swap kept stripping the belt.
