Unbelievable....

I'm in Costco's parking lot here in E. Mesa, AZ. and I start to turn in to a space (my wife is in the van with me), and I stop at least a foot away from the car parked in the next space and ask the older (65?) guy if I'm close. He starts going off about me being "right up on him", and then proceeds to show me these HUGE black marks on his rear corner bumper. I didn't feel a thing. Well, our bumper is grey, so I tell him I'm going to park and see what the damage is. I pull in from where I'm at (which proves I was nowhere near him), and look at my front bumper, only to find bug marks from our recent trip to Cal.. No scrapes or anything, and certainly nothing to suggest making the huge black marks on his bumper. Also, his wife is going off about having a baby in the car, which I certainly couldn't see (maybe he\she was in the trunk??). Anyway, as soon as I tell him there's no way I could have hit him and that there's no scrapes on my bumper, they climb into the car and take off. Scam??? Most likely! It's a shame that people that age would be into looking for a patsy to pay their car's dents off...

Just be careful, and don't hand out your insurance info without assessing the damage completely, and making damn sure it's your fault....

Carl...
