Testing Oil Pressure gauge

is there a way to test the oil pressure gauge? I have put in a new oil pressure sending unit, but the thing still seems to act the same way. I don't know if there's a problem with the new sending unit or if it's in the gauge. Is there a way to test the gauge itself. I know with the temp sender, you can just ground the signal wire and watch when you switch the car ON, and the needle will make it's way to the other end of the gauge if there's a good connection.

get an external mechanical gauge to compare it to. most mechanics shops will have them just for the purpose of testing when the gauge in the car can't be trusted
