First off, I do have anger issues. So, I was driving home from work and I see this 1981 280zx T-topped coupe sitting at a car lot and decided to go back to the lot after I showered. I get to the lot and look the car over. It is Silver with blue, silver, tan, black and brown interior. The drivers T-Top is spider cracked, there is a whole bunch of rust under the windshield, the interior is shot, and there was some rust on the underside of the car, but it is a 5 speed. Well I figured I could get a deal on the car due to its condition...which I think is poor.

Well I walk inside the office and ask the cash price on the car, the guy tells me to hold on and he went and got shyster #2. This big, tall, fat guy comes in and says, "So, you want to pay cash for the 280zx?" I said it depends on the price. "Well, that car is $2900 cash." I immediately said oh no, that's way higher than I was thinking. He said what were you thinking? I said somewhere between $700 and $900 because of the condition of the car. He said what do you mean? I mentioned the interior, the busted T-top and the rust. He said, you think that car has rust on it?? Get the hell out of here, we aren't doing business! I said first off have you looked at that car, yes it does have rust and quite a bit of it and many other problems and second you need not talk to me like that, third why don't you justify $2900 for that car to me, that is the price of a Turbo 280zx in fair shape with decent miles, not a busted up N/A ZX with 170,000+!!! He again told me to "Get the hell out of here"

So I turned to walk out the door and said, I hope you like looking at that car cause it's gonna be here for a while you shyster!! He said something smart as I closed the door behind me. Here is the fun part of this little adventure, as I was getting in my car I saw a very new looking F250 parked behind me...I assumed it was the shyster owners truck....mind you I am parked on a gravel driveway facing away from the cars on the lot so the first thought in my head is....PUT THE CAR IN 1st AND SPRAY THOSE ****ERS!!!! So I did, rocks were a flyin...got a few tiny dings on my car but that Ford caught the brunt of the shower of stones...it made me cringe a little when I heard them bouncing off the side of the bed and the couple of cars near it. I didn't spay the 280zx.

Please. mine was in better condition then that. and i only paid 300$. I had good paint on out side. inter needed some lovin. but motor was strong. body was a b- and she had all the orig rims and all orig Nissan Glass

 

gotta love shyster dealers... if you had no job i'd stake it out and watch other people look at it and then warn them... and park your nicer z right off their property so they can't get you for trespassing. lol show them a thing or 2.

i picked up a running and driving 81 NA coupe that only had two 2" holes in the front frame rail, and that WAS IT. only needed a cylinder head and i bought it for a grand..

 

i got mine running with some bad rust... FOR FREE!!!!! haha.... actualyl with teh spare chang ein it ... he actually paid me a dollar to take it

that is exactly what you can expect at a ghetto dealership.

2 months from now, the price suddenly drops to $999 when they realize it will never sell. They may just get some sucker in there that buys it for over 2 grand though. That's how they stay in business.

I looked at a 260Z at a lot once in that condition. They wanted $2500 for it. I told them I might pay as much as 2000.... I guess that was acceptable so we went out to do a test drive.

A month later I bought a 1982 280ZX 2+2. this was back in 1996

 

While my buddy was home on R&R from Iraq we went looking for a Z for him as he's always wanted one thanks my ZX I had in high school. The last place we stopped at I was trying to avoid because I know the dealership to be high priced and full of scams. Well they had an 83 2+2 on the lot which wasn't in the best of shape, but it wasn't bad either. A little rust under the drivers taillight,and it ran rough but otherwise in good shape. They wanted $3995 for it. We talked to a salesman for a while and he got up to check an offer we made with the owner. While he was out I yanked the lot listing off his desk and checked it out. The car had been on the lot 171 days. This gives me more play room given it's age on the lot. He came back and I played a little harder. Knowing he was going back to Iraq we didn't need TT&L on the car so that played in our favor as well. We finally got it off the lot for $2000 and they delivered it to my place for free. Not a bad deal considering I stuck an old set of NGKs in it and decent used cap and rotor from my last tune up on there and the car ran like a bat out of hell. Unfortunately all that great power was due to the timing being set WAY advanced. I tuned it back down to save the engine and set it around 10 degrees and it purred like a kitten, stopped fouling plugs, wasn't as peppy, but still a little rocket, ran the same as my car which is good. So I think we pulled off a steal. The digi dash in it and the mirror heaters all still work. It's an amazing little car. I never knew all the options on the ZX, but this one seems to have everything. Then we found a turbo in the junkyard with a good body and rusted out hood. Picked it up for $200. Looks like someone was trying but couldn't get it running. The oil smells like turpentine so I'd venture a guess that it's not getting spark. Either way the engine is coming out getting refreshed and a little build up then going into the 2+2. Shysters are horrible and the car probably isn't worth $2000, but I don't think it was a complete rip off given what we're doing with it.

I think he had all the right to do that. Obviously the car was not worth 2900, and he was a real *******. I was driving around one day, and I saw a rusty brown looking 280z parked in some guys front lawn. So I stopped and started looking at it from the street. Then some old wiener comes out of the house with a shotgun and tells me to get the f outta here, and he starts walking towards me. That night he got a rock through his house window. People that are shysters deserve what's coming to them. And im sorry if I seem like a dick for backing thxone up, but I just HATE people that are ******** for no apparent reason.
But in my opinion, one rock to the truck would have gave him the same message.

I'm sure I will grow out my *******-ness sooner or later. I think old people have to be nicer to set an example for little kids like me But if you look at it from the car salesman's point of view... I agree with Rod. He may have been a jerk, but if hes an ******* that doesn't mean you should ruin his stuff. Afterall (and yes this is a reiteration), I'm a real dick sometimes and I would be crushed if someone wrecked my 1988 Subaru. I love that thing and to have someone do something to my car just cause was a jerk doesn't seem fair. That said, I do have a lot of respect for THX but I would have done something like skittle said and park your Z right out side and hassle his customers. Thats more on par with telling you to get the hell out. What a douche though I have to say I (in the heat of the moment) would have wanted to do the same thing you did.

 

I agree vengeance will get you nowhere....except in trouble. This is not even Z related, but Friday night my house (duplex) got broken in to. I KNOW it was these two black kids from next door because they're the only ones that could have possibly known I wasn't home. As much as I'd like to beat the daylights out of them.....I know I would probably get arrested and they would get off scott free because I can't prove they did it.....so you just have to let it go, and hope they eventually get theirs. Which they will, its called bad karma.

BTW, these idiots are even too stupid to be criminals. They walked right by several guitars, a couple computers, stereo equipment, CDs, etc. in my living room, went into my bedroom and stole a plastic container with maybe $15 of loose change, and thats all. Dumbasses!!

Anyway, back on topic. Just trying to say sometimes its better just to let things go.....

 

88 subaru.... hmm... bro... its time for a new car. lol. 88 and subaru jsut dont mix..... sell it get a classic Z. easier to work on and maintain and cheaper... and if you take teh proper precautions they wont rust out like they enjoy doing sometimes... and then you can make shelby jealous...

 

That guy with the shot gun could have gotten arrested if you had called the cops. You were non threatening and you were off his poperty. They could have charged him with brandishing a weapon in public among others. Some of which are fellonies.

I agree with Rod and Tod (nismopick) they are right and if you believe in Karma have fun. There are better ways to get back at a person and not worry about jail time or major fines.

 

Ummmmm......uhhhhhh...no, I don't feel bad about it. It wasn't so much the fact that he was a shyster, it was the way he talked to me and his body language that made me do it...I don't talk down to people like that and I will not put up with being talked down too like that. He could have been a respectable business person and just said "I am sorry but I cant sell the car for that price" not be a condescending *****. Also, I drove by that place today and saw him park and get out of that truck...the bed was not on it.

Yes, I would feel bad if someone did that to my car, that is the point I was making to the car lot guy...I wanted him to feel bad. If it happened to me I probably deserved it...would I be pissed, yes but what can you do. If you are an ******* to someone for no reason then I believe they should be an ******* right back...yes it is childish but so was he. I hope it cost him a lot of money to fix it. I hate to be an *** like that but I felt it was a prudent thing to do. I don't like being an ******* but some people just bring it out and I end up not being rational when it happens...sorry guys to those of you I offended by doing this and I do see your points.

 

I understand where you're coming from, but to me, the only justification for screwing up somebody's car would be if they screwed up yours first. Plus, you wound up doing damage to your own car in the process.

There are better, more effective and certainly less childish ways to deal with somebody who is an *******.

Just think what you would feel like if every person in the world who thought you were an ******* decided to take it out on your car? And, as I mentioned before... At the time, you weren't even sure if it was his car you were spraying gravel all over...


I don't want to be giving you a bad time, but you're an adult and you probably know better than act irrationally. Z people are supposed to be cool remember? We should be above such behavior.
