Strange digital dash problem

Dear specialists ,

I would need your kind help refer to a problem with my digital dash of my 280zx´turbo

After changing my battery , I found that the speedometer on the digital dash began to act strangly, cycling though 1-9 untill I reached a cruising speed of what I guessed is around 55mph, when which the dash reads a steady 11mph.

The car starts fine and all other gauges are still correct, except water temparature background lighting which is since the beginning sometimes working sometimes not, as best as I can tell; it also drives exactly the same--no lost power or anything out of the ordinary. Fuses and fuse links are fine and poles of te battery were/are fixed properly

I'm mildly perplexed as for what to do now .

I read something about evtl. problems with speedometer-sensor connections but have no idea where to look for . Is it under the hood ? at which place ?

any help, pics or ideas would be highly appreciate

thanks

Bernard

The speed sensor is on the back of the speedometer / main gauge cluster. Have you downloaded the FSM? The 83 FSM has an entire section for the digital gauges.
