???? STILL Looking for a Z Mechanic in Bay Area ????
YES!!! I'm still looking for a skilled Z Mechaneck to drop a 350 Chevy and transmission into my 1981 280 ZX.
Yes, I will want to make it smoggable.
Does anyone know of such a mechanic in the Bay Area?
Apparently, the Z Doctor in Richmond has quit the business and the folks in San Jose only work on newer Z's. No one has called me back yet, and it's been several weeks now.
So, who does that leave? Anyone with a backyard and an engine lift willing to give this a go? I hear that it ain't too terribly hard to do. There are some pretty good instructions on the Internet that explain how to do it right, so I don't think it's gonna take a rocket scientist to build this rocket!
Leave me a message on my home phone if you know of someone who is willing to "try this at home."
Have them call 510.849.4434.
Thankz a lot folkz

I don't know who you talked to in San Jose but Rob Fuller at http://www.ZCarGarage.com works on all years from 1960's 510's to 350Z's.
I'm sure Ken at Dando's in Fremont would give it a shot. I know one of his guys is doing a 350v8 on his own Z right now.
I would call them both. I can't imagine they would pass it up.
