Steering Gear Removal

I have a 80 N/A with power steering.

The steering gear box seals have failed and I need to replace the unit. I have found a rema unit, but now I need to remove the unit from the car.

I have the FSM, but the only thing I am seeing on the removal is on ST-12 It looks like a simple job with only 8 bolts, but something tells me it not that simple.

I check the Haynes (p. 268) and step 5 says a I need a "appropriate puller" to remove the gear arm.

I go back to the FSM and in the special tools they have listed a "steering gear arm puller".

For those of you who have done this what works as a appropriate puller?

You want advice from an experienced mechanic here. Is it possible for you to post the graphics from your FSM ST-12 and your Haynes? I think a mechanic looking at the problem shown in your graphics (photos OK too) might see a good solution right away.
