Starter Solenoid
Starter Solenoid
I have been messing around with my starter as it is not functioning and I have determined the issue to be with the solenoid. The problem being that it is not passing enough current to the electric motor. The solenoid does engage the starter to the fly wheel, but it does not rotate. Bypassing the solenoid and putting power directly to the starter motor cause the motor to spin. Continuity checks of the 'relay' part of the solenoid shows that it is connecting/making contact. So my guess is that it is corroded and limiting the amount of current to the electric motor.
My question is, does anyone have suggests on how to dismantle the connectors on the solenoid so that I can clean the internal contacts?

check your battery cables leading to the starter too, a corroded ground or positive cable may be able to deliver enough current to engage it, but not to spin it, I dont know how much you know about electricity, but an ohm test might give you a false positive, do a voltage drop test on it to see if the cable is carrying all the voltage through.
