Sponsorship
Hey ya'll....I searched around but didn't really find anything on this topic. A bunch of my friends here at Fort Benning (mostly Honda drivers, lol) are getting sponsorships from different show teams for their cars. I called one company and they said they would be happy to sponsor me. It included three full sponsorships, one from Vertical Doors, INC, and the other two from some other companies that I never heard of before, and lots of partial sponsorships. The cost to join the team is $135 a year (two years for me since I'm military) nd only have to go to three shows in the membership time period, and have two vinyl stickers on the car. Now to me, this sounds like a lot for nothing, which means there has to be some fine print somewhere. Has anyone ever looked into this or done it? If it's as good as it seems, I could get some awesome stuff for the Z. Any input??

I dunno Nismopick....the team is charging the money, but with membership to the team you get full sponsorships from these companies and stuff...but like, i wouldnt have to put vertical door stickers or the other company stickers on my car, just the team stickers
ahh they do this in my town... its a smart ricers way of feeling cool and making money at the same time.....
there used to be a little club called hyroshin i think(they had cute little pink window stickers that costed like $50 or $60
it was funny cause you were sposed to have over 200hp to get in and the only car that did was the leaders stock STI.... the rest were just civics accords volkswagons and old eclipses

I'm gonna sponsor my Z31 then! It's got 200HP, if I turn up the boost, oh man it'll have more. Then one day when I get an S30 for my L28ET that can join the club!!!!!!!!!!
Our leader will be the melting Z31!

My thoughts are that it should work like a union? You have to pay your dues, but in turn they give you all sorts of discounts on parts, would possibly give you new products to try out for no cost? Stuff that would outweigh the cost of membership? That's just my guess. Otherwise I'm just going to make up some stickers to put in my quarter window and just pretend I have my own team.

well here's their website http://www.teamscp1.com/Index.aspx
it sounds like you go promote these products that i highly doubt are just given to you, i gather its "provided to you at a substantal discount" so you can buys it, install it your self and being what it probally is will be a HUGE pain in the *** and then go out and promote the crap to people so they buy it.
all in all it sounds like your paying them to advertise their ****, thats a bum deal.

Any real sponsorship comes with obligations, like participating in X amount of shows or races. Otherwise, no one's going to "give" you stuff for a car that you just drive to and from work. This' just a way for smaller distirbutors and companies to sell their stuff. Just do the math for the stuff you actually want and see if it actually benefits you, or offsets your obligations.
