i would like to know what OEM parts are rare/hard to find.

For example, are iron cross mags harder to find than 6 spoke mags?

im new to the s130 so all of them look the same to me. and recently i have been running across a lot of them for sale or being parting out. i would like to save/find some OEM parts that are very few.

back when i was younger i remember seeing quite a few z31s with tonneau covers. now that i own one i rarely see z31s with tonneau covers. i was lucky to find 3/4 of a tonneau cover at the salvage yard for $10. used ones from other sellers are asking $200 and up for one! they couldnt been that much NEW back in the mid 80s....

 

The only "rare" stock things I can think of would be the 79 ZXR wing, and there was a chrome roof band on a few 280zx's too. That's about it... pretty much all other parts are readily available in junk yards or online. My garage attic is so chuck full of 280zx parts, I could probably build 2 or 3 complete cars.

is the wing JDM or USDM?

you got any seats up in that attic of yours?

 

The 280zxr is the 280zxr... I'm pretty sure it was just a USDM model.

Indeed. One set of 82T maroon fabric, one set of 82T tan leather (shredded... keeping for the frames), and a set of gray S13 240sx seats.

 

As NismoPick said those few items would say are rare probably the rarest the chrome roof band were on the 79 citrus green 280zx's few of those around.

I know there are exact replicas of the 280zxr whale tail spoiler for sale but I won't know where who sells or makes them but I have seen them.

As for the spoiler I would sell it for what i bought it for 4 years ago and it wasn't cheap $850.

 

I like the idea that its close to the original, looks good on the ZXR, some wings IMHO are overkill and can look a bit silly, but the low profile keeps it a bit more understated. Not planning to do a replica, but with the tail and a decal package you could make a real head turner.

Decals don't exists anymore If they were even made for the public to buy. They were made from metal if I read correctly at some sources or you can have then paint onto the car not something I would do.
