Random RPM Drop

I have an '82 280ZX and i can rev it up to about 2500 RPM and it just drops to about 1800. Doesn't matter if I am driving or sitting still. Haven't seen any posts about it.

When was the last tune up? (spark plugs, cap & rotor, wires, filters, cleaning grounds, checking all sensor connections)

transmission might be slipping or you might need a new torque converter..
