Project: Awful Hero S130

Hello to all.

Its been a slow road with the car, things are coming together finally, test and tune time is finally here. Very exciting.

I recently took the S130 out for its first track experience.
I'm guessing this 90k mile 10th anniversary black gold S130 has never even seen a drag strip, and certainly not a road course.

It drifts well and will definitely take some time to get used too. As an ex-ae86 driver, this car seems amazing. hahaha torque on tap.
Round 4 Tandem Chase Cam

Very low quality outside clip :-D

This is the backbone of my hobby, good friends, good times, and drifting. hah

UG10 Downtown^ S13 & S130

A cell shot from today.

Chase car S13^ It does have a front! see. hah

I'll be driving the s130 a few more events this year, so look forward to seeing more.

Nice! What differential are you using? LSD? 2-way? Welded?

Is your 280zx a DD as well? How does the rear end feel at normal speed turns? A local 240Z guy lost his entire rear cross member at Auto-x a few years back due to a welded diff on stock suspension...

I actually drive my z every day. Its the only car i own right now.
I never really sport around in it though, i drive it like i have a baby on board.

Its a full time daily cruiser. I know all about welded differentials. The most damaging thing for them obviously is when they are under a large load of traction. Tearing apart u joints, putting stress on transmissions, all that bad stuff.

Which in my case, won't really be an issue. hahah my dd wheels are 15x10 with a 215/60R15 stretch. My rear tire situation for tracking are a wide selection of free 10 year old dry rotted 195s and 205 with 50psi in them.

After driving a 74 260z s30 for 6 months, i can honestly say the s130 is a stronger platform to build on. I could totally see a welded diff tearing an stock s30 apart. Especially when grip racing.

Here is some footage my friend recently put together from our last track day early this month. S14 Scotty, S13 Sean, S130 myself. hah

Good day! I just recently bought two new rear struts, it wasn't too smart of me to run the last set of tokicos without bump stops. One blew, then other blew while ran off track the day of this video. haha

Anyways.. there it is. haha

I remember seeing this car a couple years ago at the Street Life Tour. Good to see it's still around.

Running without mirrors, now? Were those the powered mirrors before? How'd they work out for you?

Haha street life was awesome. I think I may have been the
Only zx there. I showed up pretty late too.

After I do the headgasket, we have to put new floors in it and
Frame rail reinforcements. I drove it two winters in a row. Hah
Never got stuck, salt ate it up though.

You were, I was looking to see if any showed. No S130's were there this year. The last I saw it at the show, you were driving it around and rode right past me. I was the one guy who got overly excited at seeing one there. I think you messaged me on Zilvia a while ago asking what I planned to do to mine.

Remove bumper cover. Remove bumper (couple of big bolts)
Trim 2-3in out the bumper cover.
Then re install bumper cover.
You will have drill holes to do this. 4 holes worked fine.
I used washers and 8mm bolts. Across the back.
Zip tie the sides of the bumper cover, that will
Keep it from flapping around on the highway. :-)
