popping when weather is hot

Every time it is hot outside and my car warms up it pops when down revving. Any ideas why? I just got some hotter plugs and going to see if that helps any.

Most older cars will do this. Even newer cars pop, its just hat its more pronounced on the Z especially if you have an aftermarket exhuast. Plugs shouldnt make a difference. The BCDD is what is supposed to take care of this ubt mine never worked so i disconnected it.

Yeah, you should hear it with a big custom exhaust! Think megaphone! That little pop gets magnified into a pretty good boom!

I have an after market exhaust that came with the car when I bought it. It says "Blue Streak" on it. Not sure who the maker is, but as my BCDD valve is capped off, it makes some great noise decelerating at 2k RPM and below, and sets off lots of alarms. Kinda funny, but everyone says it sounds great, so I'm happy...

Haha, everytime mine does it I keep thinking I'm hurting something and instinctively take it out of gear to drop the rpm's right away. ^^

I'm still getting used to the fact that my turbo engine doesn't pop while decelerating. That noise was a disinctive part of driving my Z before the swap... oh well, atleast I don't draw as much attention from law enfocement any more

Is it not possible for a Turbo'd car to have exhaust pop? Or is your turbo just tuned decently? lol

Mine is a turbo, and it pops. Stock turbo, but 3" piping, cat, and muffler though.

i seem to get less pop if i make sure i have no leaks into the system ether vac or ex ether one ..if there is a little leak in ether of them then the pop pop will be louder and do it more times .even if i tighten everything down and check then recheck everything , i still have some pop around 2500 rpm ...if droped into low when slowing down well then popopopopop hahahaha ..if iam alittle over top dead on the dissy then it seems to get alittle popopopop ...when my egr had a leak it went crazy popopopopopopopopopopop ..
if you have a header then you will have more pop then my ollies ..
its just the way of the z !

I don't know if these cars have/use an air intake temperature sensor... but if it seems excessive, durring hot weather, it could be an issue with your ECU not decreasing fuel for less dense air.

They do. It's inside the AFM. If you look into the AFM opening you'll see a small peice of plastic protruding...thats it.

That's almost why I begin to think everyone runs across these crap when cold better when warm situations. Is that the air temp sensor must be starting to crap out.
