I can't stand insurance companies. Pay all your money to us. You get in an accident that will cost alot to fix, your car is totaled, go by a new one, have a nice day. Sure if it was maybe a 2000 or so but when you start dealing with cars from the early 80's and even earlier, it gets harder to go buy a new one just like that.

I've had two friends that totaled their cars and the insurance companies would NOT let them buy their cars back. They told them that they had to bid on them at auction if they wanted the car back. Not saying that you cant buy it back from your particular carrier, but that's just the two experiences I've seen where people tried to buy their cars right back. One was a Z32 that wasn't even totaled. It was stolen and completely stripped and the insurance company still wouldn't let him buy it back. One of them took the check and just bought a different car. The one with the Z32 was still waiting for the car to go to auction last I heard, which was about 7 months ago and that was almost 6 months after they recovered the car.

insureance company's have it made, thye can vcharge what ever they want and we have to pay. I think they paid off Bush to make insureance a law There like cig comapny's, Gas company's, Medical care. They charge what they want, and we have to pay. All it would take is one nation wide strike to set them strait, But that will never happen. Till they learn that they are wrong, we will pay outragus prices, for litle to no service.

Here in Suffolk you can pay a fee, I think it's like $500-$1000 to opt out of having insurance. Oh and speaking of Tabacco companies, Phillip morris, which is right here in Richmond, is also the largest anti-smoking entity. Thats on top of being the largest Tobacco producer in the country. I'd say that's pretty freaking ironic

I can't stand insurance companies!! They said my car is only worth $1000!! so if it's totaled that is all I get. It's not even worth it, I have to pay over $2000 a year for the insurance!! How does that work, I don't see how they can do that. And if I don't get a B+ average thats an extra $1000 a year!!

Thats because they're basing it on the retail value of the car as is. You should be able to get insurance based on what you value the car at. Where they take into consideration whatever modifications you've performed on the car. THat way you get reimbursed for the value of the car and the value of the part you put on it. Of course thats gonna raise the cost of your policy a bit. That's what my buddy with the Z32 did. He had everything from the HKS turbos to the stereo system insured on the car. Everytime he added something to raise the value of the car he reported it to the insurance company. They covered it and raised his premium. Then when it was stolen he got a check for far more then what the car was worth. Most of the stuff he put on his car weren't even paid full price for so he actually made a few bucks on the deal. Of course he was out the car in the end. Plus all the work he put into it. I'm in the same boat as you KTM. The insurance company wants more per year than they say the car is worth. So I take my chances without it. Alls I'm in for is liability so if I hit somebody else there car will atleast be covered.

As Chris Rock once said . .
"They should call insurance policies "In case sh*t happens policies" so that in case sh*t happens you are covered. But if sh*t never happens, shouldn't you get your money back?"

Preach them words. That is what companys should do. Pay Back what you are owed. Nothin ever happends, you should get money back. But untill the day someone desides to sue them, it will stay the same.

Where I Am In Bc, Everyone Has To Pay Icbc (insurance Corp. Of Bc). If You Have A Accident You Can Get Your Car And A Cheque Depending, Then Fix It And Continue Driving It. My Car Is Worth 500 Bucks Cdn!?! To Them. But Because Its A Collector I Can Get Agreed Value Insurance And Then They Will Pay Me Every Penny. The Only Thing Is With That Is I Can Only Drive It 6 Days A Month To Work. So I Dont Do That. And If We Take Lots Of Pictures And Keep Receits We Can Fight For Higher Value. Theres Pros And Con To It Though.

The reason you don't get your money back from the insurance companies is because they are 'For Profit' companies. Although there are problems with that, if you know enough about the law and your rights, you can usually get what you are reasonably owed from them.
Those that don't know the law or their rights are regularly taken advantage of. I have no problem with that.
I'm not a big supporter of very many 'Government' programs. You're actually paying for all of it, it's just coming out of your paycheck with your taxes rather than from your pocket later.
When I pay for something, I want to know how much I paid. Having it buried in the 'General' tax fund, doesn't give me any confidence in their ability to spend MY money wisely...
