I don't know if I'm just asking a dumb question but when I get in my car and turn the key but not start it a small square that lights up orange or red (I'm slightly color blind). The fuel pump comes on and after about 5 seconds or so it goes from red to a green that says OK. What does that mean and for? Spark plugs warming up?
If you have a Haynes manual or FSM, time to open it up.
That box is for all the non-engine sensors, such as washer fluid, lights, coolant, etc. If it says "OK" then everything is OK.
If it goes to a red box, hit the button next to it and it will tell you what's wrong.
FYI... Diesel glow plugs warm up, spark plugs don't.

Don't worry the spark plugs will warm up once you start it ;P
After the OK light comes on push the button beside it and you can watch it check each of the systems..... I think it's kinda cool. The light is called a nixie tube btw.

LOL, thank you for caring
I already feel like family here. It is pretty neat technology they had for that year of a car. Is it me or was Datsun way more advanced then other companies? I mean like Ford, Chevy, dodge, etc? The common vehicles?

It had one of the quickest 0-60 times for an 80s car, to begin with, but it looked good too!
