newman's zx
It would help if you spelled Paul correctly, and you'd get much better results by searching for "Bob Sharp 280zx" or something like that.

Also search for "IMSA GTU specs"

He moved back, at last, to IMSA racing in 1980. He would drive a Datsun 280ZX which was updated to the latest GTU specs. The car was fitted with bigger tires and was lighter, it was given gor 270hp. At the end, it was a totally new challenge, but he had to face a much more stronger opposition than in C Production. The Mazda RX7s had entered the fray and had clearly become the class of the field. Drivers like Walt Bohren, Lee Mueller, Brad Frisselle, Roger Mandeville, Jim Downing and Jeff Kline were all very skilled and professional. Paul Newman garnered some good results but no victory at all.
lol google had corrected it when i searched. thanks though. i didn't know it was more affiliated with someone else. thanks though.
anyway, this proves my argument right! my uncle has been talking about paul newman's 1200 hp l28 and i was just trying to see if there was any truth to that.

there isnt a heck of alot of photos out there. im building a replica car and want to get it perfect in the extrior body for the 79 race year. i even got the road and track (i think) magazine with the article in it.
ahh that said it made 700. interesting.
so, anyone have any idea what it takes to get an l28 to 700 hp? i remember a thread a while back i think i started about max l28 power that ended up saying that 600 was pretty much that max and that was pretty hard to do. no doubt with newman's money involved one could squeeze a bit more out of it.

I believe the 700hp Electramotive 280zx was a twin turbo V8.

For the 1981 season Sharp, in partnership with Electromotive, decided to escape GTU and the Mazda's and move up to IMSA GT class for cars over 2.5 liters. With a Nissan President 4.5 liter V8 engine and the work of Gene Crowe and chassis designer Trevor Harris, the two teams developed a couple of unsuccessful turbocharged ZX's. They had the power, but the engine design lacked strength and cracked under pressure. The IMSA now shifted focus to allow even more highly modified prototype cars that outclassed even a 700 horsepower twin turbo V8 ZX. The project was abandoned.

The Electramotive was the L28ET not a V8.... I think they did have it mounted sideways though....
