If you don't mind me asking Frank. How many miles is on that rare specimen? It looks real clean, from what I can see. Wish I could see it this year, but that is not happening unfortunately. Thanks for giving us the privelage, to see pics of your ZXR. Take care of it man.

jeez frank, you fly over, just happen to pick up one of the rarest car in our little world, fly it back home, and all one year before some of us can see it, i hope you fly it back for next years show. good find though, howd you get it,

 

I got it by paying attention on zcar.. someone offered a zx... and it was this!!

needless to say i paid him his prize before the hour was past !

it has 49K on the odometer, it sat for 11 years.. so it might be 149.. but there is not a rip in the seats!
It does have a door that is dented.. so that will need repalcing... some surface rust .. and some speaker holes in the interior .. ill post more pics in an hour orso
But i will have to get some decals remade and repaint !! and ill be done .. It has to be stocker than stock ... comming from me .. that is akward

Omg !!! A Zxr ? Is It Possable Did They Made A " Zxr " In 1981 Turbo ? Becuase I Always See One Just Like That Hear In This Town...the Owman Was Gonna Sell It To Me For 500.00 Dollars....

No. The ZX-R was only manufactured in 1979 and only a 1000 were sold. There is absolutely no difference between this car and any other 1979 280ZX other than the rear wing, which was the sole purpose of it's existence, and the graphics package.

Needless to say, I've been trying to pin one down but I keep passing the guy on the opposite side of the highway. I caught the car once with a flat tire on the side of the road, but I couldn't stop as I was already late for an extremely important meeting.

Anyway, in the near future, I'll have one too!

 

Well it is diffrent from the wing .. no rear wiper ( so a diffrent plate on the interior side no wiper cup) i wonder if the hatch is not prepared for one ?

I should have steel wheels with hubcaps .. so i will be sourcing them too

 

Frank, if you want to keep it stock, you gotta keep the steel wheels with the proper hubcaps! I actually saw a set on eBay a couple weeks ago too...

not all 280zx's had a rear wiper anyway...

I have a full set of those ZXR type hubcaps... I was saving them for when I bought a ZXR!
those wheels you have on there look very unique. I wonder if they are some of those 'JDM' 14 inch wheels or something. I've seen a couple Fairlady Z's with different looking aluminum wheels like that, always in 14 inch though.
