New member with a question

Hello everyone,

How is everyone doing? I hope all is going well with everyone. I am a big Nissan fan. I currently drive two Nissan's now. One being a G37 with 533.15 WHP and the other being a 1981 turbo 280zx.

The 280zx is in a slight bad condition, but I had a question about the body. Is it possible for the 280zx convert to a 240z front bumper? I have my eye on the MSA Type 3 front bumper but I can't find online, or a reliable source, that states this is plausible.

If it is plausible could someone point me in the right direction, it will be greatly appreciated, or if there is a better looking style for the car, please enlighten me.

Anyway I hope to learn many things as I restore this old beater.

Thank you all for your future input.

Could anyone identify this kit? This is how I want to restore the car back too. IF it is possible to do so.

Welcome to ZDriver!

The S30 & S130 front bumpers & body lines are quite different.

You know MSA has the type 3 bumper for both S30 & S130 bodies right?

MSA Type 3 Bumper - 280ZX

MSA Type 3 Bumper - 240Z - 280Z

I understand what you want and it looks like you want it to look like the S30 Devil Z, it probably wont get as close as you want it to be, but its still possible to give it that look of the front bumper spoilerand not the huge box in the front. I to also want that style for my 280zx, but also remember that the 280zx was known as the face lift model so the body is a bit different, i found this photo around the web and to me, its the best way to have a 280zx with a bodykit on it close to the ones of S30's. Do some research around the web or go on youtube, ive seen a video of a owner who has a white 280zx turbo with the body close to this photo. Trust me you'll like it.

That looks a lot like Hughdogzs/ car.

SlownRusty has a very nice S130 turbo as well that's white - not sure if that's the one you're talking about but it's one of the nicest S130s I've seen.

Right which is why "it looks a lot like".... He also has a different front spoiler Regardless they both look similar and that's not a stock colour on Hughdogzs

Does anyone have a picture of a after market front bumper for the 280zx. I am not digging the big box look at all.

Do you have a picture of the hood attached with it? I'm referring to the white car.

I'm taking it that no one knows anything about an after market bumper for the 280zx? Making it less boxy looking?

Eh? Have you not read any of the posts in this thread? There are more than a hand full of different 280zx bumpers... I don't know what you mean by "less boxy". As in something that doesn't match the body or lines?

I've read the thread. Only the MSA was listed followed along with pictures.

But the look I'm looking for is something like this.

But it seems the 280zx does not have this style. It still have that weird funky part on the bumper.

See this is also the look I want, but it seems like its not possible.

Apparently you like the S30 look more than the S130, so my suggestion is to sell your S130 and buy an S30.

If you only want the front air dam (NOT THE BUMPER), there are many options. MSA and BDA both have MANY air dams. There are also a few other companies making them as well (an uberfast Google search will yield many results).

You know I really do like the S30, BUT, I already bought a bunch of stuff for the car. I really do not want to return it. Especially the engine order stuff.

But does the front air dam look legit? I'm google searching right now.

But is it possible to buy an s30 front bumper and do a fitment on my car?

Ok here's the deal on the S30/S130 bumper/air dam configurations. The early S30 had a nice thin chrome bumper - looks slick. A lot of the air dams for the S30 go below the bumper whereas the S130 had a more modern large bumper that isn't integrated into the body. The S130 air dams either go below the bumper like the S30 but you still have a large modern bumper and the rest of the S130 stuff is basically an over rider that molds the stock bumper in with the body and incorperated air dam. You could make an S30 bumper fit but they are not cheap to find and you would have to modify it to fit. Your best bet if you like the narrow bumper is to have something fabbed from stainless heavy gauge sheet metal to duplicate the look of the S30 bumper.
