Just wanted to say how much great info is available here. I am no mechanic, but just acquired my first Z. 1979 280zx 2+2.
It has been sitting in a garage for the last 17 years.
New gas and battery and started right up! Last couple months I have replaced the injectors, new radiator, water pump, belts and hoses.
Just finished vacuum lines and scrubbing 17 years of garage dust off the paint.
I think it is starting to look presentable, so I will upload a pic.
I welcome any comments or questions and thanks for such a great site.

that $10 oil change is just a rumor. Don't believe everything you hear on this forum.

You're confusing this forum with your Georgia riding lawnmower club.

Welcome to Zdriver bro'. And though I am not a fan of the 2 + 2. You wont lose any respect from me. It also looks clean...and good find man. You still have a Z...and that is all that matters. We all have our personal and unique tastes on what we like..and dislike. That is what makes the world go round. "Different strokes for different folks"

The 2+2 would not have been my first choice..... but since I inherited from the original owner 1 year ago I have taken a liking to it.
Nice car for a daily driver and I get to learn all about the repairs...

It's an automatic so no Over Drive. 3rd gear is 1:1.

65 mph is 3200 RPM
I may consider a 5 speed swap once I research the difficulty level.
Next is removing the AC. Works fine but it is never used here in Seattle.

Remove a working a/c?! Man... if I had a 280zx w/ working a/c, I'd cruise around w/ it on even if it were cold outside.

Talking AC in Seattle

If I get it removed without destroying any of it, I will make you a great deal on it.

I actually have two complete 280zx a/c systems in my garage... it's the R12 freon that is most precious.

exactly. Keep it in there!!!
If you're concerned with gas milage, remove the belt during the winter and then put a new belt on the pump each summer.
