New Guy

Hey Everyone,
Im Mike, I recently looked at a 1980 Datsun 280zx, it is at a gas station by my house. The station mechanic told me that it has been sitting for at least 2 years. The car looks to be in good shape, there is a dent on the left side next to where the blinker marker is supposed to be. I did not see any rust, but i did not look very closely since is was in a hurry. The owner wants $2,000 for the car. I don't even know if it runs I need another opinion on this car i did get pics but they are on my phone

Mileage? Condition of interior? Any rust on the frame or floor panels?

also, location? If any of us are close, we might be able to give a look and let you know (seeing in person is better than pictures).

I do not know the mileage, I can find that out. The interior looks in fairly good condition. the frame i will have to take a closer look at, as well as the floor panels. The car is in Newton NJ at the Gas-R-AMA on rt.94 It is right next to a honda dealership.

sounds just like another one that someone looked at. Get it started if it runs offer 1200 bargain up from there if you really like it. they are pretty tough cars. make sure all the electric stuff works. if it doesn't run try $500 and go up. remember price is a willing seller and a willing buyer not what blue book or anything else says. take a battery with you (fully charged). $2K is high for something that is sitting. owner doesn't care about the money or is waiting for the greater fool to come along.

Well its been a long while. A long while. Still looking at the 280, never had a chance to take pics last year. Hopefully when all this god-forsaken snow melts i can get some pics of it.

Lotsa pics under the hood can tell us a lot. Weird that it has sat there for so long with no buyer. That is a hot Z these days. The $2K tag sounds high too unless mileage is very low... I'd be careful - and expect major repairs are required if you buy it. That way you can't be disappointed, only surprised when they aren't.
