"New" 280zx

Well I took delivery today so I thought I would officially introduce myself and the car. So I was given this by...a old family friend. She bought it new, and has taken relatively good care of it ever since. A couple years ago I asked her if she was interested in selling it so I could bring it back to life, she wasn't ready to let it go. Then Thursday I get a email from her telling me she wants me to have it. It didn't fire up, but ran perfectly last year when it went in for it's last service. What I know about it so far. The battery is fried. It has fresh plugs, wires, distributor, fresh oil change, new tires, minimal surface rust, and the shop claimed it just needs a new fuel pump. So thursday I'm (weather permitting) going to dive into this thing and see if I can get her running. She's got 167,xxx on the clock so I'll see how it goes, It may be more profitable for me to just go ahead and swap it for a l28et, but If i can get it running I'll restore the exterior and interior while "maintaining" the mechanical aspect of it. Anyways here's a few phone pics from today when I took delivery

Interior is in pretty good shape but I hate the red and it needs to be redone anyways so I will strip the entire thing.

Paint really is almost perfect. Other than one flaky spot in front of the sunroof, not even dings or scratches.

Congrats and welcome to the club! I would recomend getting a Walbro 255 inline if you have to replace the fuel pump then you'll be ahead of the curve if you decide to go L28ET.

Wow! Looks great aside from the filthy engine bay. Love the wheels and the paint looks great. I have never been interested in S130s but this is one I wouldn't mind owning.

well I got lucky and the interstate battery is still warrantied so I'm going to get that replaced tomorrow probably. As far as the engine being filthy I know, but that's slightly lower on my list than getting it running. but cleaning the whole thing will be my next stop after firing it up and getting a strong idle.

I'm still up in the air about what I'll do with the interior. I'm going to do the outside first so it will be several months before I do anything other than clean up the inside. But I do have a update. IT LIVES! http://youtu.be/LqU8CfxxsMg
