need some help with MSA airdam install
i'd like some input here from people who have installed one of these on their car.
i'm having some trouble figuring out how to mount the thing... just how much of the original bumper assembly did you guys leave on. what i was thinking is that i'd leave on the big metal part of the bumper while taking off the plastic "cover" so that there would be something to mount the airdam to and of course for safety reasons
seems to fit alright with the bumper entirely removed
then i put the bumper reinforcement bar back in
doesn't fit quite so well anymore
about an inch too far forward with the bumper reinforcement back on
another thought that crossed my mind, did you guys remove this metal part thats below the hedlight bucket and fender?
any help is appreciated

Didn't it come w/ instructions? You need to strip the bumper down to the bare metal bar, take out the lights too. You will also need to unbolt the shock mounts from the bumper bar as well, because underneath the square flanges, there is a screw that holds the hydralic fluid / air in the shock (for impact cushoning) that you must bleed out. Then push the bumper shocks in far enough to wrap the msa bumper around the fenders. To get the msa bumper to fit all the way around the old bumper bar, I actually had to use a hammer & "mend" around the turn signal holes a bit. I also used the stock "L" brackets on the bumper bar to screw the msa bumper onto the frame for extra support.

never thought i'd be thanking someone for giving me advice that would get me sprayed with 25 year old hyraulic fluid
fittment isn't the best but from what i've read thats pretty much the norm for these MSA kits, they're cheap enought after all
looks so much nicer now
can't wait till my bank account recovers from getting this painted to get the Z into the paintbooth
