My Z is primered!

Well I finally primered my Z. Looks pretty nice, and aggressive looking. These are a couple teaser pics. I will take better ones here in a few days. Feel free to comment post your thoughts.

CONGRATS!!!

I remember that first step of priming the car, got the excitement going. Is the paint coming soon or down the road? Mine was about 7 months in primer and kids pointed and laughed at the car. But once it was painted, a lot of people point but no one laughs. Seein the primer makes you feel PROGRESS doesnt it? Keep us updated!

The silver paint on my car is so oxidized it looks like primer. Does that make me part of the primer crew?

You bet, I have always liked the cleaner, and more nostalgic look of the '79-'81 taillights. I always thought opinion wise, that '82-'83 taillights, are too bulky, and look taller, mainly because of the lines in them. And I am also going for a '81 Turbo scheme anyway.

Well another thing I am going to do. I am taking my front bumper off. My front end needs to be straightened out, that a bumper wont mount on there right. And it looks crooked, so tomorrow, I am taking off the front bumper, until bodywork. He will look better anyway, and thanks everybody for the comments. Keep 'em comin'

Well I do have 2 of them, still need 2 more. Okay so I wont go all the way to look like an '81 turbo. I love my swatzi wheels, to me they are the best looking stock wheels Datsun/Nissan made, for these cars. All in all, he will mostly look like a '81 turbo, and also no extra trim either. I like smoother lines, and I am either doing custom parking lights, or covering the holes, and smooth it out. Don't know yet, still thinking on that one.

Ha ha, believe it or not, my Z is just spray canned for now. .96 cans of primer at your local Walmart. I just wanted to prime him, to cover the imperfections, in the body and paint. When I am ready to paint him, after bodywork. I will start at one area at a time, with the roll on paint. And see what happens. Like sand him down to the bare metal, smooth it out, re-prime it, then apply the Rustoleum roll-on paint. Use the 600 grit sandpaper, and some kind of polish. Pretty much the same thing that guy did on HybridZ. 007 posted a link in my '82 project list thread.

FYI you don't need to primer it at all if you use the rustoleum, it can be used on bare metal.
