true true. I think I would choose an LS2 over that though

a 5.6L V8 Twin Turbo would so own... youd prolly rip the car in half with all that torque

have you ever seen an old skool GTO with too much torque?? my dad says they literally almost break the frame, cage and body just from twisting.. the Z has a different frame style so its alot less likely

hence why most american muscle racers dont use GTOs. i love GTOs tho.. i have ridden in one with some hefty upgrades and they are a sweet ride.. they are bit of screamers.. especially if you got one with a chevy 502 (like the one i was in :P)

It would go really fast in a straight line and make no turns.

P.S.
A V8 will fit in a Z31 or a Z32. I've seen several.

well the one i was in wasnt modded up that high like the ones my dad used to race and others so it didnt have such drastic effect.. the Z would really twist like that cuz the old skool GTOs were a unibody frame style whereas the Zs and almost all modern cars from the mid 70s are now on a conventional frame.. so its alot less likely for them to twist like that.. i imagine with a chevy 502 a Z would prolly peel all the way down the 1/4 hahahah.. a chevy 502 is enough to make your 350 look like childs toy.. ive seen instances of people putting out 800 HP with one.. this guy i used to know who lived down the street from me had one in his 1969 Chevelle SS and he was crankin 657 HP and 703 Torque.. he showed me the dyno sheets and all and i was like damn! and that thing freakin Roared so loud you could hear it a mile away

I think you got that backwards. The Z's have always been unibody construction with no frame.

Early 240z's will start to twist at around 300 ft/lbs torque and the rest of the first gen Z's would probably go at around 400 ft/lbs. 280ZX's will last a little longer, but not much and Z31's are in the same boat. Z32's on the other hand can handle MAD torque before they start to flex too bad.

back a few posts....I would consider an LS2 for the price, but I'm sort of strict on keeping nissan cars w/ nissan motors, I feel that putting a domestic motor in a Z is bastardiZing.

LS1's are quite common and I know a guy that is just about finished with his LS2 240z.

Dude, Ive seen 350s that make well over 800hp. Its all in how you build the engine not just how big it is.

seriously its the way that the engine is tuned.. i have a friend who has a honda S2000 with 503 hp. and thats only a 2litre engine. its all just how you make it.. sure a 502 has more stock hp. but it is also a **** load heavier than a 350. ive seen 350's push over 1000 hp. gettin a 502 would just b a waste of room and money, when you can get just as much hp out of a small block.

well i feel that if you put the same exact amount of effort into a 502 as you did a 350.. youd produce way higher numbers than the 350.. and yes the 350 may weigh less.. but it does not take as much effort to make the same number HP wtha 502 as a 350... and besides.. a 350 pushin 800 is not going to be near as durable as a 502 pushin 800.. a 502 is much bigger and has much more capability than a 350..

I wouldn't have a prob w/ that at all; in fact I think that'd be a great swap. I've never been one to understand dropping another type of motor into a different type of car. If I owned a Honda, I'd drop a Honda motor, if I had a Nissan, id drop a Nissan motor, if I had a Chevy, id drop a Chevy motor, but none into the other. Just doesn’t seem right to me, I drive a Nissan to drive a Nissan, not a Chevy disguised as a Nissan...regardless of what a 350, 454, 502 or whatever other 3 digit domestic motor can possibly push compaired to a Nissan motor, i'd rather take less power knowing my car isnt some halfbreed.

that makes sense...wouldn't it be easier to modify with a nissan car and a straight nissan motor? than say having a nissan/datsun and putting a chevy v8 in it?

I dont know, ask these 280zx drivers, I know its a pretty common swap to throw a 350 into one, I hear about em all the time, but w/o having an older Z myself I wouldn't know what all is involved. I have a friend who used to have one himself and that damn thing smoked everything w/ wheels. It was amazingly fast, but I still don't think I could commit to doing it myself, just too hooked on keeping my cars in their respective families.

This topic has been debated many times. Its all a matter of opinion really. Like I've said before, different strokes for different folks.
