Minor Rust

Minor Rust

I hvae recently Located some rust on the bottom of my driver side door It is all the way through the inner lip of the door, not noticable inless under the car with door open. My weather striping has been replaced, How should i go about fixing this? Fiber glass? open to any suggestions plz help

Grind off the rust. If you can't get all the rust off fiberglass over it then body fill whatever is left to fill in. Sand it down then glaze over and sand again. Good Luck!

Unless you want to have this discussion again in a year or so, you have to get all the rust off. Simply covering it up will only delay the inevitable.

If you want to solve the problem, you'll have to get all the rust. In some cases, that can entail a significant amount of effort.

Depending on how pervasive it is, you may be better off trying to get a replacement. However, it's unlikely you'll find one in better shape in a junk yard.

I agree if you can get one at the junkyard if you can't get rid of all the rust. Becasue that is true it eventually will eat through the fiberglass, but in some cases it isn't possible to get at all the rust and fiberglass will slow down the spread of rust more than most products you will find.
