for the love of a z or don't let guys work on your car for parts...lol

I worked with Fubar on this car. I learned a lot from him. And a lot of this is not his doing....
I have read and done my homework reading the fsm and what you guys say the way things should be done.

lucky me

I will be the only one doing the work on my Z car from now on. She's that good.

My pain started when.....

I fired up the engine and within minutes, the head gasket blew.
Shortly thereafter, the front oil seal started slinging oil and coolant?? I think coolant also.

wtf.....I paid to have it done right...rightly so I am pissed.

So, being pissed off, I tore everything down, [let my Lead Man run my crew and let him handle my responsibilities so that I don't have to worry about deadlines and the stuff that goes with running your own landscape business....get in the way...

I'm doing it al myself. I know its gonna be right.

so...

I tore her down...right to the short block, sittin there naked in the engine bay. Looking like...please come and haul her off for scrap value.....I've lost interest and want this pos gone.......If I had a buyer, I'd sold it on the spot...I am tired of all the parts....another Jim Bean inspired rant....sorry.

There was crap in the oil pan, I still cannot figure out how or why it got in there....I don't care. But used lots of brake cleaner to clean things up.

Were talking a car with under 90k miles....

So I ceaned it out.

Let me tell you on a turbo car to get the oil pan off while in the car is a majoy pita....you will curse this car. You will have too......maybe on a na car its different...don't know and don't care.lol.

1. remove valve cover
2. remove motor mounts
3. jack the tranny up until camshaft contacts firewall {after you remove the
accelarter linkage thingy that swivels.
4. remove all 30 bolts to the pan
5. remove oil return hose from turbo, take the tube off, I did.
6. use large flat blade screw driver and strike mallet to seperate pan gasket
gasket material and sealant. joy joy...
7. remove oil pickup tube/screen.
8. use cherry picker to rotate engine to orentate motor to get clearance
to take the fuc*ing pan out.

Later timing chain rant.

everything is together sept few loose ends will fire her up again tomorrow.

I got 8.5k in parts so far. am not going to get antique car tags for this car...

signed kenny and JIM BEAN 1/2 pint.

8.5K in parts so far, woah thats a headache just thinking of it and not having a running car after it.

I tend to never allow anyone to touch my cars, If i can't do a job on it, I'm sure as hell going to learn to do it. The only exception is Tire and A/C work but if i had the equipment i would hah. I wouldn't even trust someone to change my oil, I'm that paranoid.

It probably would have been faster & easier to pull the complete motor & tear it down on an engine stand. I hate working in the engine bay...
