Loud hissing noise....
Any time I turn the AC on, I get a loud hissing noise out of this piece (see screenshot). According to Haynes, this is the FICD, but I don't really know what this has to do with the AC.
Any ideas as to why the hissing noise from this part when the AC is on?

The F.I.C.D. solenoid is turned on when the ac compressor is engaged so as to compensate for that load. The Idle-up solenoid stabilizes idle speed when engine load is higher because of electrical load, power steering pump, etc.
To set idle speed warm-up engine. Dis-connect idle up solenoid wiring. Race engine for approx 1 to 2 minutes under no load. Idle speed should be 700 to 750 rpm. If not correct, adjust by turning speed adjusting screw [ the rear one closer to the throttle linkage].
Cold fast idle on the oposite of intake uses a bi-metalic strip to open and close air passage for cold idle control. Engine cold valve open. engine hot valve is closed. Check valve for continuity and for battery voltage engine on.
