I've been looking to buy a 280ZX as my next car, I've previously owned a 1986 Z31. I've been looking online a lot, and I found a few helpful buyer guides that do not fully set me on the right track. I've been eyeing out the 280zx for some time now, it would be my first experience with the infamous L28E inline-six. I know the basics, rust, vacuum leaks, t top leaks, but I feel like there is more to buying a 280zx. What should I look for in general, what would be a good example of a nice 280zx? would buying a turbo or NA make a big difference in reliability, or performance, even. Willing to spend about $10k on buying the car.

 

If you ever want to get more HP out of the car, you will want to go with a turbo. The amount of money and work involved in getting real HP out of a NA car is not worth it. Unless you have an unlimited budget you should try to find a turbo car that runs.
Rust is a project killer.
