Whats up Z-drivers? someone please help me! i just bought my first car which is a 280. the biggest prob i have with it is the headlights. the just don't work. someone told me something about the relay, but im not sure if thats it, yet alone which relay he was talking about. my next problem is starting the car by ignition. i have no key to the car, all i have as a push ignition switch. but the car doesn't want to start when i push the botton, so i have to clutch start it instead. you guys got any tips or helpful advice?

 

first, check to see if there are even wires connected to the start button, then if there are, trace them back to the start, there should be one going to the starter and one to the + side of the batt.as for the lights, it could be a loose connection or corroded contactes. once you get the car started with the button . then you should move on with headlights, because there is no use for headlights if the car dont work.

 

The headlight harness under the dash likes to burn itself out. Just something else to check for.

Yup both my Z's had a burn out like that in headlight circuit. I'm going to rewire the headlights to incorporate another relay and some heavier guage wiring.

 

i had that happen aswel when i would turn it ... it would set of teh relay ... but then nothing ... the switches go out eventually !

 

Iight, ima give it a shot with the relay and all and then move to the headlight harness. if it works ill let ya know.

that damn headl ight harness does like to burn out it burnt out on my 1983 280zx non turbo...
