I hit 18 on November 15, and my parents decided to help me get a car "soon". So I looked around, and even though I hate most hatchbacks, I decided, why not ask for a 280ZX? They said they'd see what they can do, and one day they decided to go to Lancaster. I was cool, and when I get there I see a 280ZX, it was in a crash, but it ran, and we bought it. I was stoked. Radiator has a few problems, but I plan on switching it out, and the hood was bent from the crash, as well as the whole area where the headlight bucket is at. My dad is gonna help me repair it though. Man, this car is freakin' sweet though. I'll post pictures soon as I get a camera. How'd you get your first ZX?

other wise sounds cool, post those pics fast and i really hope for a ZX in a crash you got it for really cheap, they arent worth to much as it is already.....


as for me, my dad was always into the S30's so when he got his i got a 300ZX so i could be more modern, loved it, but had to sell it, now i got 2 S30's one almost fully restored now, the other is my turbo charged slightly restored racer i guess you could say, i just come along good deals and cant pass it up!!!!

but instead I found a 280zx and my dad claimed it would be lower insurance for him to pay because I could get an antique tag, so i figured that I would help him out


it ended up not being antique,
but I now have a love for Z cars and Nissan

My only problem is I quit my last job (the hours were a joke... Less than 15 in 1 month, 3 weeks), so I'm searching again. I hope mine will come out as nice, I love Z cars, they're the only hatchbacks I like besides the RX-7. Something about them, you know? I need a hood for it though =/ It's nice, white with burgundy original interior, beautiful, and the 280ZX turbo rims

 

there's alot "hatch" backs, they are kind like fast back's to lol, that are nice. every Z made is and is beautiful, the RX-7, the mitsu 1G and 2G eclipse's and all similare (aka eagle talon) 180sx's. supra's. 3000gt. some old mustang fast backs, infact theres quite a few muscle car's with hatch backs. the AE86. 5.0's though i guess they arent nice cars lol. celica's, the old good kind (70-92 i think). audi makes some very nice hatch car's.



and if you think about it, ferrari's and lambo's are kinda hatchback car's as well....

 

Yeah, but when I think hatchback I think of those early 90's Civics and such, and it reminds me of those Scion xB's or whatever they were

 

civic hatches can be very clean honestly, now if you'll excuse me i have to go wash my hands with acid after typing that.



but yeah, everything i listed is a hatch, your thinking more wagon like than just hatch. open mind is the key to your answer's.

 

True, true. There's what, fast, hatch, and liftbacks. I dunno, I'm very peculiar when it comes to choosing cars. I haven't even fixed my 280ZX and I plan on buying an RX-7. "Roll up to Heaven in my RX-7".

 

a 3rd gen i hope? nice turbo RX-7 93 and up... so sexy with its 13B rotary, sounds like a lawnmore at idl sure, but it sure is sexy. gotta love those wankle rotaries. 20B is awsome or you can get your self a lemans 4 rotor and kill averything in sight. lol.

 

I was looking at a first gen, I heard they're the easiest to fix and such, and I don't know jack about cars. I read up on that Wankel engine though, interesting concept. But, you say 3rd gen run best? I'll look into it

haha, if your looking at a first gen you'll never be able to afford the 3rd. its going to run minimum 10k for a 90's car that after 50k of abuse will blow its apex seal. its fixable though. but yeah..... the 1st gens are crappy, they are carbuerated rotaries. get a second gen turbo at least. or is it a 3rd gen? and teh one i love is a 4th? crap! i cant remember now!


well here, i know this much, an FC3 is a good one to look for but teh FD3 is the sickest!!!!!

 

some of the 1st gen had fuel injection... strangely a friend of mine converted his 1985 RX7 from FI to a 4-barrel carb.

 

I'm looking for a '93 or so RX-7 near me. Not much luck. Oh well, I'll get it later down the road. I have my 280ZX right now My brother wants dibs on it after I get a new car. I told him fat chance

 

hmmmm... i think the newer FD3S is a little outta your league unless your made of money. just saying. they are expensive to buy, expensive to own, and are not reliable if you plan on driving them like a sports car. my friend had one for a while, owned it for maybe 2 or 3 years i think and drove it only a few thousand miles because the thing blows up in your face every other time out. it was beautiful though and fairly heavily modded. and he and some other friends of ours did all the work themselves so he saved alot of money, but yeah his parents were millionaires so he had no problem maintaining it fyi.

 

What about a series 6 instead, you know like the first of the 3rd gen? They any good/easy?
