I turned the Key........
Today i made the block off plates, and finished up the fuel system. I said what the hell. So I got in, turned the key to kick on the fuel pump. She built up pressure liek she was supposed to. Turned it one more notch to kick the starter............ Nothing! I was of course cussing up a storm, I got out grabed a screw driver, and went after the starter, unpluged the remote line, and tryed to start her by jumping it. Start=Good. Added a prime of fuel, and saw a purdy flame come out the intake.(i left a port open so i can add fuel) Tryed again. more backfireing. I set TDC and Dizzy before i put engine back in. So now. i got Starter probem, Backfireing, and injector fireing. First, Starter. What could that be?

congrats Fubar, you are the 3,000,000 Z owner to report these types of symptoms after tearing apart some part of your engine
On the starter: Make sure the yellow wire to the solenoid is hooked up. Make sure the + battery cable is running to the starter. Make sure the starter is firmly bolted to the engine and that you have either a - battery cable running to the starter body or that your engine has a grounding strap running to the chassis.
On the backfiring: make sure your cam timing is correct. Make sure you have the dizzy driveshaft installed correctly at TDC. A backfire out the intake usually indicates most likely either **** poor ignition timing or **** poor valve timing. Some other common causes are crossfiring and intake valves not closing completely.
