I am new to this site, I am also new to my 83 280zx. I am having an issue, it is very frustrating. It seems that after my car warms up. The car just dies and will not restart for a few minutes. and then only stays running for a few minutes again. I have checked for loose wires I have looked at the fuel pump all seems okay. I don't know what to do or check next. I was thinking it may be the module on the distributer. I am just guessing. The thing is it is a intermittent problem. If you know of this issue please let me know?

Sounds like it could be an air regulator, AFM, or indeed the ignitor module.

Even if you full throttle it, it won't start?

 

When this issue acts up it will not start at any throttle position, the gas pedal could be all the way to the floor or open just a little bit. Again, throttle position has no affect on whether it starts or not. It just will not start until it sort of cools off.

 

try changing your coil, they will do that when they get warm, or the ignitor. when it dies, listen for the fuel pump just incase, but im voting ignition.

 

I can hear the fuel pump. I know the coil but forgive me what is the ignitor and where would I find it? Also is there a wa to test it.
