Help with door latch
Ok, my door latch is messed up. I was opening my door and it was pretty much stuck, so I was trying to rock it with the door handle which may have caused a problem, because afterwards the door wouldn't close correctly, well I then went and pushed the door lock with my finger, now the door is acting like it's locked, but neither handle will allow the latch to go back into the open position again. The lock switch will move from like normal to the locked and unlocked positions, but even with the switch set to unlock the door latch won't release. It's as if the car door was shut then locked. I can also move the switch with the key as well, but I just can't seem to get the latch itself to unlock as if the door were open. Can anyone tell me how I can get the door latch to at least unlock?

Well I pulled the door trim out and everything and loosened the stuff up, tightened it messed with it, and eventually it went back to normal working, I think the door latch basically got stuck, and after sitting in the garage a while it thawed a little, so it's back to normal...
I currently have the exact same problem
My drivers door was really stiff to open. So I opened it and had a look at the latch on the inside of the door.
I pushed it to see how springy it was and it just stuck in the lock position... Funnily enough I decided to test how this would go with the passenger side, and voila. Same problem.
gonna have to try and pull it all apart and grease it all up and stuff now

alrighty so I need some real help...
Ive got the FSM (pdf) and I pulled the door trim off. The lock assembly doesnt let you see really what makes the latch actually turn. I mean, the inside lock and handle pull their respective lines, but the damn latch is still in a lock position.
So I tried to unscrew the door lock assembly, but its impossible to freaking get out and tinker with. Theres that big 'rear guide rail assembly' blocking it from coming out.
There's obviously gotta be some kind of pin on a line coming down from the top (if youre looking at the inside of the lock assembly) that comes from the outside door handle right?
anyway, my question is, do I have to completely gut this freaking door (and take out the rear guide rail assembly) just to get the latch back into it's default position?
I took photos from inside the door, they arent great, and now my card reader wont read my cameras card so yeah thats more annoying.
Thanks guys

It is a pain to get the handle / lock unit out. The window needs to be all the way up, or removed from the door to get access to the 10mm nuts. You also need a long flat head screwdriver to pop loose the white plastic bar guides which connect to the handle & lock. I suggest spraying some lube on it & work it for a few to see if it will start to move.
ah... yes, to remove the latch / striker assembly you will need to remove the side window track. Make some marks with a black marker or white out so you know the exact location where it was. Then on install, you won't have to re-align it.
okay one more little question for now,
Im reading the FSM very closely. It's my understanding that I can leave the window up and then just unscrew the rear guide rail from it's 3 screws (figure BF-37 in the FSM)
Or do I need to take the window glass out completely first?
Thanks

So take the glass out is what I'm gonna do then
The regulator assembly (ie window winder) is in the same position as the power window button right? The fsm just kinda shows as though it had an analog window. anything I need to know different coz ive got power?
