Haunted brake lights...

For some reason, my brake lights decide that they want to come on by themselves when the car is truned off. This is a problem, because it drains the battery not to mention **** me off when I need to start the car.

So, is there anyone out there who can tell me what to trace down before I rip into the dash? I have an alarm installed, but it's as old as the car is and sadly I didn't do the wiring for it. I'm guessing that may be part of the problem, but then again, I haven't a clue. Any help would be great.

My Z is an '83ZX n/a.

Yeah, I thought about that too. I'll check it out in the morning.

Whew....I thought I was in for some wiring nightmares. It just so happens that the rubber bumps on the brake pedal had hardened and split apart. I just got a small nut and bolt, ran it through the hole where the brake switch bump used to be, and viola...brake lights are working again!
