Grand Touring at its finest

Grand Touring at its finest
I always said my 280ZX's mission statement was Grand Touring, and this last weekend, I finally got to do just that! Over the course of 3 days, me and 10 other Z-cars from ZONC (Z Owners of Northern CA) drove over 1100 miles of CA and NV's most beautiful and secluded roads. Surprsingly, mine was the oldest Z to go on the trip; all the rest were Z32's or Z33's. But thanks to all the maintenance and modifications, it held up ok to 3 days of non-stop driving through all conditions (and got surprisingly good gas mileage, especially considering all the hill-climbing we did!).
We went as low as hundreds of feet below sea level in the Death Valley deserts, to as high as snow-capped peaks 10,000ft above! The vistas were magnificent and you gotta check out some of the pictures I took! If anyone's seen Pixar's Cars, this trip totally illustrated Sally's quote that the roads "didn't cut through the land, it moved with the land. It rose, it fell, it curved". The funnest roads were the long straights that undulated in waves like a roller coaster, going up and down. Man, this here's the essence of pure driving enjoyment.
After some sht I'd gone through last month, I really needed this getaway. Just me and an endless road that stretches to the horizon. No past, no future, just the moment, and nothing else seems to matter. But alas, it's over too quickly and it's back to dreary reality again...

Heh, we had a fair number of incidents that made the trip memorable, including someone got picked off by a cop, another person had a flat tire when we were supposed to leave the motel, and some idiot locked his keys in his car.
(Ok, ok, I was the idiot who locked his keys in the car ^^;; )
