Fuel Pump relay (1)

Hello Im new to the Forum and just picked up my 79 280zx last friday! The guy I bought it from said he believed either the fuel pump or injectors were bad. So I put it all back together and started from scratch. Come to find out my Fuel Pump Relay (1) is bad so heres my questions 1. where is a good place to buy a relay(all the parts stores I called dont have any. 2. Is there an easier way to get to the relay. I pulled out the glove box and It was pretty much a pain to get it out. Thanks

Glove box is probably the easiest way. It's a pain to get at.

If it fits the socket it should be fine. Off the top of my head I don't remember the socket configuration for the fuel pump relay. The fuel pump relay is green.

Well my relay came in today. I installed it and the still have the same problem. I'll chalk this mistake up to not thouroughly troubleshooting and lack of electrcal knowledge. So now Im thinking its the oil pressure switch. when I turn the key to the ON position my oil pressure light is on and reads 0. So I did some more research and apparently the ECU can trip the fuel pump if the oil pressure is too low. Has anyone ever had this issue or heard of this happening?

^^^ Obviously the oil pressure will be zero if the car isn't running.

Getting back to the basics...

Are you getting fuel pressure?
Are you getting spark?

yeah Im getting spark ( starts and runs 15-20 secs with starter fluid)
So as far as fuel goes I disconnected the fuel line at the filter to see if fuel was getting that far and nothing. When I disconnected the fuel pump there was no fuel draining from the line as I expected.

OK you need to do some trouble shooting instead of wasting money guessing at what's wrong. Do you get 12V to the pump?

Yeah I got 12.3 volts to the fuel pump and I can hear the pump with the oil pressure switch disconnected like it says in the T/S in the FSM.

So I got the ZX running today. It runs a little rough though. I have a vacuum leak on the hose that comes out of the AFM. ( Does anyone know a better name for this hose so I can try and find one) and I have a coolant leak coming from the small hose that is under the air pressure regulator. (looks like an easy fix).
